We had to edit this pic :) If you can imagine its worse than the heart picture!
After 3 long days chasing elk with Ryan and Jordan, I changed to a better-looking hunting partner (Jamie). Due to her Native American-like hunting skills we finally dropped three. I ll let her tell the story...
1st of all we pick up a hunting Buddie at 6 am. He hops in the truck and then the lingo started... see if you can follow, fellow shopping girls...
Jason: I think we need to glass the saddles where the clouds are socking in.
Conrad: That's a nice bi pod you have on your 270
Rich: Look to the South west by the pivots
Well anyway we had been hunting from 7 am until 3 pm that day almost ready to move to a different area because we hadn't seen a single elk that day. On our way to Ted Turners farm we got a call from another hunting buddy that he was in the midst of 120 head (120 elk) Which is insane! So we found him on the mountain and we were trying to cut off the elk and scare them up to our Buddie on the mt. and as we are tracking them in the truck they are running just above us in a HUGE heard!!!
So the boys get close enough and get out to take a shot when we see them heading to cross the rode right in front of us so we jump in the truck and Rich is driving like a crazy man on a mission and I kid you not this is such an adrenaline rush, so I'm in the back saying, "go, go!" then we start fish tailing in the snow and I am freaking out but still telling him to go faster! We want meat:)! We stop and one of the elks crosses right out in front of us and so they just all start hauling it across the road about 50 yards in front of the truck! Conrad picks one out and shoots it right in the head! And Jason and Rich both get one as well...
It really was one of the craziest experiences of my life, especially after gutting three elk, which I did help by putting my foot on the leg of one of the elks so they could take out all the organs! We got them to the butcher last night and our 300 lbs of meat (yes this cow was huge!) will be ready to pick up in a couple of weeks... crazy!
