...

Summer break is ending. Sad.

School is starting tomorrow. Last year Kylie had a hard first day. She was new. That is always hard. She forgot her lunch money and had to go back to her classroom by herself to get her money (I have NO idea why I had her buy the first day!) by the time she got back to the lunch room and got her lunch she didn't recognize anyone in her class so she just found a table and sat by herself eating her lunch. That is hard. The day didn't get much better. That first day of first grade was hard. But we do hard things. And things got way better. She ended up loving first grade.

Kylie went to a swim party the weekend we got back from Summer vacation and met a sweet girl who will be in her second grade class. Her sweet new friend (who happens to be very shy) said she didn't know anyone in her class and Kylie quickly responded, "I will introduce you to my friends!" (A mom told me this story and said that, when Kylie said that, the look of relief and excitement swept over this sweet girls face.)

Kylie knows what it is like to be the new girl. And I love that she is excited to introduce this sweet girl to all her friends at school and save her a seat at lunch.
