Kylie is 8!

I can not believe the time has come that our oldest child will be baptized into Gods true church. I feel like Kylie is 100% ready to make a 2 way promise with her Heavenly Father. She is ready and understands her baptismal covenants. We have been teaching her the Gospel throughout her life but the past 12 months we have made more of a concerted effort to make sure she understands this important step she is taking and the influence she can have as a disciple of Christ. These are a few things we did that I hope we can remember to do with all of our children

Missionary Lessons:

She decided to take the missionary lessons about 2 months ago. These 2 sweet sisters came and taught even getting down on the floor with her and teaching her about tithing, they colored with sidewalk chalk to teach the plan of salvation, they read scriptures with her and taught her more about the commandments. These are all things we have gone over and taught her but sometimes I feel like it can sink in better when a 3rd party is doing the teaching:)

Drawing The Book of Mormon:
Each Sunday for about 5 months we chronologically took a scripture story from the Book of Mormon and drew it on a paper scroll. Art speaks to us Hilton girls and I loved how Reese even drew her version of it too. It was a great Sunday activity and I think it helped us understand and remember these important stories from the scriptures.

Bought her a white dress:

I am not into silk dresses for my kids. I've never really seen one that I love so I don't buy them. But Kylie LOVES them and thinks they are so beautiful. So one day at Last Chance I saw pretty much a wedding dress for a 8 year old girl. I knew Kylie would be in heaven if she owned that puppy! So when I took it home and explained that it was for her baptism she was thrilled. It has sat in her closet for close to a year now (I bought a size up:). She has only worn it once to the temple open house but every time she looks at it I think I see stars in her eyes. She is so excited to look like a beautiful little princess that she is!

Temple open house:

What an amazing opportunity to go through the Gilbert Temple open house with all our children. This temple will always hold a special place in our hearts and especially the girls. Their favorite part was the celestial room and the chandelier! It was spectacular and such an amazing reverence in that room. I snapped this picture of it one night we went! I love it.

More on her FROZEN party tomorrow:)
