Birth Story

Our growing little family...

So it started, well, 9 months ago but fast forward to delivery day! I was tired of being pregnant. I changed my mind. I didn't want to go into labor naturally, I wanted to be induced. Now. So I may have stocked my Dr. at chuch and asked/ pleaded with him to get me in!! So that night I got a call from the hospital to come on in! We got to the hospital around 3 am and got all situated. They broke my water and gave me an epidural at 7 and by 9:32 our little man was out!

Earlier that day Kelsey tried her hand at inducing me by watching some you tube videos and rubbing my feet. I didn't mind, I love a good foot rub!

Conrad helped deliver Nixon with Dr. Erickson. Here he is suiting up with the nurse.

They were having way too much fun:)

We invied Kylie to come watch. She stayed up by my head and she had this permenant grin on her face. She was so excited to welcome Baby into our family!
Then Reese came in when He was being weighed and bathed. Kylie pretty much had a monopoly on holding Nixon but Reese was more than thrilled to get to hold his toes or whatever else was available to hold:)

My mom got to help with the birth too.

I love him.

I did the unthinkable.

I did the unthinkable, the unimaginable. And I am thoroughly disappointed in my decision. Today at Kylie's soccer practice the coach was passing out jerseys, handing out picture order forms, snack sign ups and in the midst of it all; a PRE-ORDER FOR TROPHY'S. Let me lay this out for you:

1. These kids haven't even PLAYED one single game.
2. So by drawing conclusions from point #1 they haven't WON a single game and there are no guarantees they will win. (Although if I were drafting a HS soccer team I would take the coaches 5 year old daughters. They. are. amazing.)

So I feel like pre-buying Kylie a trophy devalues first of all, the trophy she won for the Strawberry eating contest in Houston, TX and any trophy she may be AWARDED in the future. Don't get me wrong, I want Kylie to have high self esteem but I want her to feel like she worked for and earned a trophy. I don't ever want it to be expected just for showing up.

But non the less I started asking questions like, "Is everyone doing this?" And sure enough I felt prone to peer pressure not wanting her to be the only one who didn't get a trophy. But then again what if? What if they don't win a single game? Or maybe the win em' all and I will happily hang that in her room. But really, what if they don't win any games or even half of them? Maybe I'll save the trophy for next year:) Just kidding.

Well, whats done is done and we will move on here at the Hilton household. But on a happier note I am dilated to a 2 and 70% effaced and Dr.E says Baby Hilton should be here in a short week or two!! Here I am at 37 weeks...

35 weeks

This is what I am consuming my mind with these days. Do we see a pattern? Yes. Babies. My babies. And how exactly do I keep them small forever? And how exactly do I get my new babe to sleep through the night? We have always been particularly bad at getting our babes to sleep at night. Third times a charm? Or if you have any advice we will take that too!!

Cookie Crisp

Ever since I was little I have ALWAYS wanted to make real cookie crisp. When we eat the Cookie Crisp cereal (which is like never) I am always disappointed. Like I feel like saying to the Cookie Crisp Company, "Do you really think this tastes like chocolate chip cookies??" It's pretty much a huge disappointment every time. I guess its like labor, you forget how awful it is so you try again but...still it hurts, wow I guess I have pregnancy on my brain... soooo, as I was saying I made my own Cookie Crisp and it was the bomb. You should try it one day. You know, just make chocolate chip cookies but make them super tiny and make sure to keep them in the fridge so when you add the milk they stay firm for a while. yummaroo.

The ipad is kinda a fav around here.

30 weeks

Folks, it's embarrassing that I can't seem to get Conrad home for 2 seconds to remember to take a pregnancy snap shot. It's kinda the last thing on my list when he is home. Soooo here is a beautiful self portrait. I'm sure I will be mad at my self later in life, but for now here is Baby at 30 weeks.

Again, here is a side by side pic of then and now! This is me at 32 weeks when I was preggers with Reese. Kelsey and I ran a 5K in Rexburg in support of a mother with MS. You can read about it here.

25 Weeks

I thought it would be fun to put some pregnancy pictures up side by side from this pregnancy and the last. I can tell I'm a smidgen bigger this go around but still loving being pregnant. Its funny how at this point last pregnancy I had my birth plan ready and had clearly thought about the big day 5 times more than where I am now. I have a lot to do to get ready for this little MAN! Thank goodness for these next 15 weeks, although I have a feeling that will FLY by!
