HISTORY

Reese + Nixon// Listened to Well Educated Heart, My American Story Book. They are learning about The American Revolution. They listened to beautiful stories. Then jotted down some of their own notes so they could remember the stories they heard about Robert Morris, Valley Forge and the heartbreaking story of Nathanial Green.

Write one vocabulary definition each day. Ready tricky words each day. Loop of geography+poems. Reese is labeling a huge map she made with the sates abbreviations and their capitals.

Nixon// 5 minutes of memorizing glossary terms each day. 1 page in handwriting and typing each day. Write one vocabulary definition each day. Ready tricky words each day. Loop of geography+poems. Nixon memorized a few Shel Silverstein Poems: Shaking, Hurk and Hammock. He made a Poem book for the poems he writes or memorizes, he has me photo copy the poems he memorized from his book and pastes it into his poem book.

I love these pictures because this was the first day that he actually started his typing lessons. Before hand he was reading about it. He worked hard to get his hand position just right and didn't want to move his fingers so he had me scratch his back for him:)

SCIENCE

We all made wax candles and experimented with mixing the waxes together.

ENTREPURSHIP

Reese// Reese started her entrepreneurial class this week.

TECH

Nixon// Read the manual with me for his Electricity set and is excited to start playing with it next week!

FINE ARTS

Reese// Piano 5 days a week. I love how it seems all day she dabbles on the piano, not just for her practice but she just really enjoys playing things especially when the tune is familiar. I'm learning, when you want to introduce something new to a child (or anyone) like poetry or music start with something that is familiar ie poetry about animals or children or food.

We also took this kids to see Tarzan at the Hale Center Theater. It was hands down amazing.

PE

Nixon// We got out on the Mountain once this week. Nixon passed off his 180!!! His 50/50, pop and straight air with Conrad. Conrad made a list of 12 tricks he wants everyone to master this season. He made a spread sheet that we have on our chalkboard and he signs off on each one:)
